Republican Tamar Martin seeks to replace Johnson
MECHANICVILLE — A pharmacist and long-time city resident will seek to fill the vacant finance commissioner.
Republican Tamar Martin announced her candidacy for commissioner on Thursday, just days after Keith Johnson stepped down.
“My knowledge, enthusiasm and integrity make me well suited to fulfill the duties of this office.” Martin said in a statement.
She said she seeks to bring “transparency and clarity to the financial and budgeting process, and engage taxpayers in moving Mechanicville forward in a comprehensive, orderly fashion.”
In addition to her work as a pharmacist, she has served on medical missions to Haiti and Guatemala and is an active member of the Mechanicville- Stillwater Lions Club.
