Bethlehem boys’ tennis coach Steve Smith earned his 300th career coaching win as the Eagles topped CBA 9-0 on Wednesday in a Suburban Council match.
Smith, who has coached Bethlehem for 23 years, has led the Eagles to 16 sectional final appearances and claimed 11 Section II championships. Bethlehem has won four straight and is looking for a fifth consecutive title this spring.
More boys’ tennis: Queensbury earned its 650th program win with a 5-2 victory over rival Glens Falls in a Foothills Council matchup. Skyler Allen, Will Lamy, Owen Young and Jack Murray provided singles wins and Ian Rathburn and Gavin Hochsprung had the doubles victory for the Spartans, who have now claimed 31 straight Foothills wins in a row. Queensbury improved to 5-0 and 4-0 in league play while Glens Falls dipped to 2-2 both overall and in the Foothills.
Girls’ lacrosse: Meredith Montgomery scored six goals and had two assists to help Queensbury remain undefeated. The Spartans rolled past Greenwich 20-4 in a Foothills game to move to 6-0 overall and in league play. The Witches fell to 2-4 and 2-3.
