Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says the Dutch shepherd escaped from its kennel overnight and might be lost
ALTAMONT — A police dog escaped from its kennel overnight and Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple is urging the public to help his agency find the missing dog.
In a news release distributed Monday, Apple said the animal poses no risk to the public and is friendly. But, he noted, the Dutch shepherd is a service dog and should not be approached.
The sheriff says the dog might be lost after getting loose overnight. He said it was unclear how the dog was able to get out.
Members of the public can call the sheriff’s office communications center at 518-765-2352 if they have seen the dog since last night or haveÂ
information about its current location.
