Olivia Tetreault is a junior outfielder for the Saratoga Springs softball team.
A second-year varsity player, Tetreault went 3-for-3 in a 9-4 loss against Troy and hit two home runs Saturday in a pair of wins. She helped the Blue Streaks, as the No. 7Â seed, capture the 2022 Section II Class AA championship.
Q: How excited are you about the way the team is playing right now?
A: I am really excited. I enjoy how the team has been hitting. It has been a great start to our season after our (title) win last year.
Q: How different is it this season coming in as the defending sectional champion when you beat the No. 1, 2 and 3 seeds to capture the championship, and has it changed the team’s approach?Â
A: We have been approaching things a little differently, coming into games with a different mindset and attitude that we have to hold up the standards we had after winning last year.
Q: Hitting in the leadoff spot, you have been disruptive. Is that something you are always looking to do?
A: Yes, I love running the bases and I love hitting.
Q: During the offseason, was there anything in particular you tried to work on in order to improve your game for this season?
A: I practiced a lot during the winter on my hitting. I have gone into at-bats not trying to overthink when I go to the plate, trusting my mechanics and doing what I know how to do.Â
Q: How much do you appreciate competing in such a strong league as the Suburban Council?
A: I like it. I like the challenge. I enjoy hitting, being with the team and winning.
Q: How old were you when you began playing softball?
A: I was 5.
Q: What kept you playing?
A: I like the self-motivation with trying to do better, playing as a team and picking each other up.
