Family of Bruce Willis says actor diagnosed with form of dementia

The family of actor Bruce Willis took to social media to announce that the actor is suffering from a form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday, the 67-year-old’s family, which includes his wife Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore and his five daughters, wrote “while the news is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead.

“As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research,” the statement went on to say.

Willis was diagnosed in 2022 with aphasia — a medical condition that can make it difficult to write, speak, or often understand what people are saying to you, the report said.

At the time, Willis’ family said that Willis was suffering from a medical condition that was affecting his cognitive abilities, and the he would be taking a break from acting.
