Family of Bruce Willis says actor diagnosed with form of dementia

The family of actor Bruce Willis took to social media to announce that the actor is suffering from a form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday, the 67-year-oldโ€™s family, which includes his wife Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore and his five daughters, wrote โ€œwhile the news is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead.

โ€œAs Bruceโ€™s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research,โ€ the statement went on to say.

Willis was diagnosed in 2022 with aphasia โ€” a medical condition that can make it difficult to write, speak, or often understand what people are saying to you, the report said.

At the time, Willisโ€™ family said that Willis was suffering from a medical condition that was affecting his cognitive abilities, and the he would be taking a break from acting.
