Most expensive Big Mac in the nation is close by!

Consuming marijuana makes people paranoid, right? Does merely thinking about weed make you paranoid, too? I’m starting to suspect it might.ย  Follow along with me here.

A website called McCheapest tracks the price of Big Macs at McDonald’s across the country. As of Wednesday, the cheapest was $3.49 in Stigler, Okla. The most expensive in the nation was $8.29 at a rest stop on the westbound side of the Mass Pike in Lee, Mass.

That’s mildly interesting. But the median prices of homes listed for sale last month was $299,000 in Lee, according to realtor.com, vs. $134,500 in Stigler. So the cost of living is higher. And the McD’s in question is at a rest stop on a toll road, which is almost a captive audience, and so one would presume prices would be higher than normal anyway.

But here’s the paranoia part. If you’re going east, a little past the rest stop is the Lee exit of the Mass Pike, where a weed shop โ€” pardon, a dispensary, now that it’s all legal and fancy โ€” called Canna Provisions sits just off the highway.

The McD’s with the Big Mac that is 2.375 times more expensive than in Oklahoma is on the westbound, or north, side of the Pike. Directly across the highway, about 500 yards away on the eastbound side, is another rest stop, where, weirdly, a Big Mac is $6.99.

In other words, Capital Region residents, if you go to Canna Provisions, imbibe in one of its products and a common side effect kicks in as you head home and prompts you โ€” by which I mean prompts you to ask your designated driver โ€” to stop for a Big Mac, you’d pay $1.30 more than if you’d stopped on the way there.

Makes you go, “Hmmmm,” no?

(There’s yet another Mickey D’s right by Canna Provisions, too. Its Big Macs are $7.29. Make of that what you will.)ย

One can waste โ€” see what I did there? โ€” plenty of time on McCheapest.
