POTSDAM — The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center announced Destinee Haught as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for April 2023.
She is a student in the Cosmetology Program. She is from the Potsdam Central School District and is the daughter of Mary Haught.
“Destinee is a hard-working student, said teacher Nicole Rutledge. “She is the first student to volunteer when asked who wants to do this customer. She has participated in almost all of our community services we have provided after hours. She has never complained about a job that she has been given. She is an amazing team player who is always willing to help her fellow classmates. She utilizes her time effectively. She completes all her assignments on time and has exemplary attendance. Overall, she is an amazing student to have in the cosmetology program”.
Students selected as program student of the month for their program at BOCES included: Jacob Merrill, Brasher Falls Central, automotive technology; Alexa Livernoise, Potsdam Central, education & human services; Emphrem Brill, Brasher Falls Central, HVAC/R; and Corbin Gardner, Norwood-Norfolk Central, software development & business design.
Cosmetology is a two-year program with a minimum of 1,000 hours of instruction time. Students study the art and science of beautifying and improving the skin, nails and hair. The program offers instruction and practical experience in the skills and theory necessary to be a licensed cosmetologist.
Students are introduced to a multitude of techniques used in today’s trending beauty industry. Students gain practical experience in a modern-day working salon environment performing services for friends, family and members of the community.
