GREENVILLE — Danielle Corellis and Todd Graves, a married couple who for years worked at Cafe Capriccio in Albany, are turning the former Mountain View Brasserie into Modena, a contemporary Italian restaurant.
An opening by the end of May is projected, Corellis said. The restaurant is named after a city in in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region known for balsamic vinegar and as the home of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.
Corellis, who spent almost 15 years at Capriccio, working private events with owner Jim Rua and as the restaurant’s original pizzaiola when the restaurant installed a pizza oven more than a decade ago, is Modena’s pastry chef. Graves was a chef at Capriccio for seven years and more recently spent seven years at Caffe Italia, also in Albany. He is the new restaurant’s heaf chef.
The menu will feature meat and produce sourced from local farms when possible, Neapolitan-style pizza and fresh, contemporary Italian dishes, according to Corellis.
Referring to Corellis an as “exceptional talent,” Rua said, “Danielle is a brilliant baker.”
The couple will operate Modena as managing partners under an arrangement with Mountain View Brasserie’s John Dolce, who retains ownership of the 2,500-square-foot building, Corellis said. The brasserie closed in mid-April. Located at 10697 Route 32, about 20 minutes south of Delmar between the hamlets of Freehold and Greenville, the restaurant was founded in 2007 and changed hands in 2020.
A new website and Facebook page are being developed, Corellis said, with the brasserie’s Facebook page being used temporarily for updates. The restaurant is hiring for all positions, with inquiries directed to [email protected].
Projected hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.
