Four Capital Region churches will be part of the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s annual Sacred Sites open house program on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21.
“Congregations and Communities: 50 Years of Sacred Sites,” will welcome visitors to explore the “extraordinary architecture, art and history of world-class houses of worship.” The congregations will showcase their buildings, histories, cultural and community programs through lectures, musical performances and guided tours in the free, state-wide event. This year’s event commemorates the Conservancy’s 50th anniversary year-long celebration.
To date, congregations participating are:
• Joy of Troy Seventh-Day Adventist, 600 3rd Ave., Troy, 1 to 5 p.m. May 20
• Emmanuel Church, 275 State St., Albany, noon to 3 p.m. May 21
• Niskayuna Reformed Church, 3041 Troy-Schenectady Road, 2 to 4 p.m. May 21
• Christ Church, 132 Duanesburg Churches Road, Duanesburg, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 21
