Sweet treats: Central NY baker pursues her dream on new Food Network show

A Central New York woman is ready to pursuing her dream on a new Food Network show.

Ally Radziewicz will be a contestant on โ€œSummer Baking Championship,โ€ hosted by โ€œThe Bachelorโ€ star Jesse Palmer on the Food Network and Discovery+. She will be one of ten bakers tackling summer-themed baking challenges for a chance to win a $25,000 grand prize and the official title of โ€œSummer Baking Champion.โ€

Radziewicz, a 2011 Jamesville-DeWitt High School graduate, is a professional French-trained baker who operates her own small business, The Love Bean, at her home in Pompey, N.Y. On Instagram (@the_lovebean), she frequently shares photos of delectable-looking cakes, cupcakes, cookies, macaroons and other custom-crafted sweet treats for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.

The Food Network has multiple โ€œBaking Championshipโ€ series, but this new spinoff requires contestants use flavors, ingredients, and celebrations specific to the summer season.

โ€œI was excited when I found out it was summer (themed),โ€ Radziewicz told syracuse.com | The Post-Standard. โ€œI love all things summer. I love summer baking and the seasonal ingredients that that brings so I was excited. … I would have been nervous but I think summer made it a little more lighthearted, which was nice.โ€

One of the showโ€™s first competitions required the contestants to make doughnuts that look like pool floaties. She was ready for the challenge.

โ€œThat makes sense,โ€ she said. โ€œAn inner tube looks like a doughnut already. But itโ€™s like when youโ€™re put under these pressure situations… your mind just goes, like, โ€˜Whatโ€™s happening?โ€™ … And you have to think so fast.โ€

Other challenges will include creating a cake with a gelatin water feature, pink desserts in honor of the new โ€œBarbieโ€ movie, a two-tier cake that resembles a 4th of July…
