ALBANY — Grace Cincebox’s last name can fool you. The ‘x’ is silent, so it’s pronounced since-eh-BO. Her surname is French in origin, changed by her ancestors from “Cincebeaux.”
“Honestly, the announcers here, I give them credit,” Cincebox said. “Cincebox is a hard name to pronounce, especially with that b-o-x at the end, but everyone here has been amazing about it.”

Cincebox made the all-tournament team as UAlbany won the America East Conference championship last weekend on John Fallon Field.

“It’s honestly been a crazy whirlwind of just emotions and feelings,” Cincebox said. “But being with this team has been the greatest gift ever and being able to compete at the highest level in this upcoming tournament is going to be awesome.”
In the 14-13 title-game victory over Binghamton, Cincebox made nine saves, including six in the first period to keep the match close early.
“Grace is so amazing,” senior midfielder Sarah Falk said. “She just deserves everything that she’s getting. She’s so awesome just on and off the field. Just an amazing person and a great goalie and she’s so humble and so good in net. She has great vision and she reads the shots so well. I think her confidence is really starting to build.”
