The Albany Patroons are still in contention for The Basketball League’s Northeast Division title. They’re sitting a game behind the first-place Atlantic City Gambits with four regular-season games to play.
The Patroons can help their cause with a win against the Montreal Tundra, which Albany is playing yet again at 7 p.m. Friday at Washington Avenue Armory.
The Patroons (16-4) are undefeated in five meetings with the Tundra this season, including a 107-103 win last Sunday in Montreal.
“They’ve made a lot of changes and every time we see them, they’re a different team,” Patroons coach Derrick Rowland said. “They’re adding a lot of guys and they’re looking for a formula there. To beat somebody five times, that’s difficult. We can’t take them lightly. We still have a lot to play for in these last four games, so we do have a sense of urgency.”

Albany has already qualified for the playoffs but is playing for home court in the postseason. Montreal (7-14) is eliminated from playoff contention. The top four teams in the Northeast Division make the postseason.
Rowland said the Patroons are still a “work in progress” as they work two new players into their rotation. Guard Edward Dyson III and forward Arsenio Arrington each got a first start at Montreal after signing with the Patroons last week. Dyson had 18 points and eight rebounds and Arrington had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.
“We’re still trying to incorporate them and get everything down to where we need to be for the playoffs,” Rowland said. “They’re fitting in great. Great attitudes.
