HS softball: Sea survives Hill scare, gains CHSAA championship game

St. Joseph by-the-Sea made sure there would not be back-to-back upsets in the all-Island semifinal round of the CHSAA playoffs as the host Vikings pushed across four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 0-0 deadlock and eliminate a gritty St. Joseph Hill team, 4-0, on Friday.

After Notre Dame Academy pulled off a stunner Thursday with a 4-1 downing of top-seeded Moore Catholic, the Hilltoppers had visions of their own upset as the teams played into the home sixth scoreless in a pitcherโ€™s duel between Seaโ€™s Ashley Weisenstein and SJH starter Julia Rimshnick.
