Following the completion of the Alcohol & Drug Council of Tompkins County (the Council)’s new Open Access 40-bed detox and stabilization facility, Angela Sullivan, the agency’s Executive Director for twelve years, has announced she will be transitioning into retirement.
The Council’s Assistant Executive Director Stacy Cangelosi, LMSW, will assume the role of Interim Executive Director while the Council’s Board of Directors launches a search for Sullivan’s successor. The Alcohol & Drug Council is a private, non-profit agency that provides information, education, counseling, and referral services for area residents and organizations.
“As I look to retirement, I do so with complete confidence in the Council’s board and staff to lead this dynamic organization, serve our wonderful community, and nurture meaningful collaboration,” shared Sullivan. “I will forever remain a champion and cheerleader of this extraordinary agency.”
“I have felt very privileged to serve this amazing organization for the past 22 years and feel especially so now,” stated Cangelosi, who previously served as ADC’s Prevention & Education Director. “After learning, growing, and leading at the Council for so long, this is my second home. My whole career has been devoted to the health and well-being of the people we serve, and I welcome the opportunity to step into this interim role and lead our team forward. We’ll soon be opening the doors to the most impactful expansion of services the Council has ever seen in its 68-year history, and we’re all looking forward to what the future holds.”
Sullivan joined the Council in 2011 after earning her MPA and MAIR degrees from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs and working with a variety of organizations.
