The 81-year-old’s retirement is effective immediately. Station appoints Stacey Rosenberry, the director of operations and engineering, as interim CEO
ALBANY – Alan Chartock is retiring as president and CEO of WAMC Northeast Public Radio, the public radio station he’s led since 1981, the station reported on Thursday.
His retirement is effective immediately.
WAMC’s board of trustees named Stacey Rosenberry, the current director of operations and engineering, as the organization’s interim CEO.
“As I reflect on over 40 years of service to the creation and development of WAMC, I feel it is time for me to turn things over,” Chartock said in a statement included in WAMC’s announcement.
A longtime political science professor at SUNY New Paltz, Chartock has been at the helm of the broadcaster since Albany Medical Center handed over the FM signal. In the four decades since, WAMC has grown into a 29-station network heard in seven Northeast states.
