Bronx girl, 6, dies with ‘bruises to wrists and torso’: police

A 6-year-old girl died Friday after she was found in a squalid Bronx apartment with bruises to her wrists and body, according to the NYPD.

Cops were called to a 12th-floor apartment on E. 165th St. near Tinton Ave. — part of NYCHA’s Forest Houses — just before 4 a.m. when they found little Jalayah Eason unconscious.

The child was found either inside or next to a closet and had bruising and trauma about her wrists and chest, according to police sources.

EMS rushed the tot to Lincoln Hospital, but she couldn’t be saved.

The mom said Jalayah went to bed at around 11 p.m. When the mom got up in the middle of the night, she found the child unconscious in her bedroom by the closet.

No weapon was recovered.

The apartment was in complete disarray and filthy with clothes and other items strewn about the home, a law enforcement official said. The city’s Administration of Children’s Services has been alerted to Jalayah’s death, cops said.

It was not immediately disclosed if ACS was already investigating the family. An email to the agency was not immediately returned.

Police said they had been called to the apartment on numerous occasions on calls about arguments in the apartment. They also responded to reports of child neglect.
