East Syracuse, N.Y. — State police ticketed a Syracuse man they say was driving a motorcycle at an unsafe speed and crashed Sunday on the Thruway.
Joshua Jones, 32, was operating a Honda motorcycle on Interstate 90 East shortly after 2 p.m. when he attempted to exit the Thruway at Exit 34A (the exit to Interstate 481) and crashed into a guardrail while rounding a curve, troopers said.
Jones and his 25-year-old passenger were injured in the crash, state police said.
EAVES ambulance took both Jones and his passenger, a woman whose name was not released, to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Jones and his passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, but both reportedly suffered internal injuries, state police said. The woman who fell off the back of the motorcycle when it crashed also had lower leg injuries, state police said. Their injuries are not considered life threatening, a trooper said.
State police issued Jones tickets, charging him with unsafe speed, uninspected motor vehicle and operating without insurance, troopers said. The East Syracuse Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
