Video shows gunman shooting into Manhattan 7-Eleven after stealing candy

A gunman was caught on video opening fire after being confronted for stealing candy from a Lower Manhattan 7-Eleven, the NYPD said Monday.

Cops are asking the publicโ€™s help identifying and tracking down the shooter with a sweet tooth who shoplifted from the store on Church St. near Park Place, about a block from City Hall, at 5 a.m. Sunday.

Video released by the NYPD shows the crook helping himself from a rack of candy, then stealing bottled water.

When a worker tried to take back the pilfered sweets and bottled water from the gunmanโ€™s backpack, the crook pulled out his weapon, cops said.

The frightened worker ran into the bathroom and locked himself inside while the gunman left โ€” but not before turning around and firing a single shot through the storefront window, the video shows

Nobody was struck by the bullet.

The shooter ran off into the World Trade Center PATH train station.
