Dr. Jackcy Jacobs is a physician, as well as an interior designer — careers tapping different talents, both of which pull from her varying strengths: science and art.
“I’m passionate about intentionally designing one’s wellness — both with their health and their environment — which is why being a physician and designer makes sense to me,” Jacobs said. “I believe that when we choose to engage in activities that include healthy food choices, daily activity, and productivity as a base, we are more likely to be successful human beings.”
Jacobs is an advocate for organized, uncluttered spaces. They’re best designed to inspire us for us to work to our potential. What, exactly, does she mean by this? Well, a beautiful kitchen is not just pretty counters and cabinets. It’s a place to meal prep successfully, have storage for easy to access to unprocessed food and cook with fresh ingredients whenever possible. A sanctuary such as a home library or well-designed sunroom is a place to take a break, be creative about your job, plan for your week, or practice 10 minutes of yoga or mindfulness.
She’s also passionate about aging gracefully and not passively letting the ailments of age attack us.
“We can control how we move into our fifties, sixties, seventies and beyond so that we don’t feel like we’re in a losing battle with muscle mass, mobility and menopause,” said Jacobs, who is a mother to three kids — ages 8, 10 and 12 — who are involved in karate, soccer, gymnastics, piano, cello, track, and acting.
