Section 4 participants in New York State Public High School Athletic Association softball final fours this weekend boast 17 state titles between them.
Deposit-Hancock’s pedigree includes last year’s championship and six when Deposit was a solo outfit.
Windsor is trying to add to a trophy case that has four state championship plaques. Thomas A. Edison and Maine-Endwell are both three-time champions.
As of Wednesday evening, the schedule remained on track at Long Island’s Moriches Athletic Complex in Center Moriches amid air quality issues across New York. Semifinals are set for Friday in all five classes, with title games to follow Saturday.

Class A: Maine-Endwell
Friday’s semifinals: Maine-Endwell (22-2) vs. Section 11 champion Bayport-Blue Point (21-4), 10 a.m.; Section 2 champion Troy (21-4) vs. Section 5 champion Webster Thomas (18-7), 10 a.m.
Saturday’s final: Semifinal winners, 11 a.m.
M-E’s road to final four: Spartans beat Vestal, 11-7, in Section 4 final, then downed Section 9’s Roosevelt, 2-1, and Section 1’s Ursuline, 8-3, to take the regional crown.
Maine-Endwell’s championship history: The Spartans captured three Class A state championships in a row from 2016 to 2018. This is their first appearance in the final four since 2018.
M-E at a glance: Right-hander Olivia Lewis is among the top pitchers in Section 4. Senior shortstop/leadoff hitter Kaetlyn L’Amoreaux was a fourth-team Class A all-state pick last season. The deep Spartans lineup hit four homers against Vestal in the Section 4 final and the bottom of the order has produced big hits throughout the postseason. Maine-Endwell averages 8.6 runs per game.
