An attacker said nothing as he slashed the face of a 23-year-old woman in a frightening unprovoked assault on a Brooklyn subway train, cops said Saturday.
Detectives have released surveillance images of the attacker, who was wearing a white du-rag and a black hooded sweatshirt with the word “Hoodrich” across its front, cops said.
The victim was on a Manhattan-bound No. 3 train pulling into the Nostrand Ave. station in Crown Heights about 3 p.m. Friday when the suspect, who was on the train with her, headed toward the door.
When the subway car door opened, the man propped it open with his foot and lunged at the victim with a sharp blade, cutting her face and the top of her arm.
No words were exchanged, said a police spokesman, who said the attack was committed “without provocation.”
The suspect fled the train while his stunned and bleeding victim stayed on the train to the next stop, where she told police what had happened.
EMS took the woman to Kings County Hospital where she was treated and released.
The woman said she had never seen the man before, nor talked to him as the two rode the train together, police said.
Cops investigating the attack recovered surveillance footage of the man leaving the Nostrand Ave. station.
He’s described as black, about 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. Besides the black sweatshirt, he was wearing black pants and black and white sneakers, cops said.
