LL District 24 10s All-Star Softball: Jackie Mena racks up 15 Ks, clubs home run in Mid-Island triumph; South Shore opens with mercy win

Both Mid-Island and South Shore are off to hot starts in the Little League District 24 10s All-Star softball tournament, which kicked off on Sunday.

Jackie Mena racked up 15 strikeouts and clobbered a three-run home-run during Mid-Island’s 11-6 win over Great Kills, while South Shore cruised to an 11-1 four-inning mercy triumph over Staten Island LL.

South Shore is next in action on Tuesday, when it visits Great Kills. Great Kills will then visit Staten Island in its next contest on Thursday.
