Things just keep getting worse for the New York Mets.
On Wednesday afternoon, they dropped another series with a 10-8 loss to the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park and have sunk to a season-low six games under .500.
The Mets, who are now 34-40 on the season, battled back from multiple deficits, but once again, when the offense showed up, the pitching did not.
Tylor Megill really struggled, allowing five runs (four earned) over 2 1/3 innings. The bullpen, which is at the bottom of the league in ERA, got lit up again. Dominic Leone and Josh Walker combined to allow five runs.
Daniel Vogelbach had another nice game at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Pete Alonso crushed his 23rd home run of the season. Starling Marte added a two-run double, while Francisco Lindor chipped in with a sacrifice fly.
The Mets will get the day off Thursday before they head to Philadelphia for a three-game series against the red-hot Phillies on Friday night.
