The Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is initiating its fifth annual Kick Start Wayne County Pitch Competition, a project aiming to encourage entrepreneurship and nurture new businesses in Wayne County. The competition, which awards cash prizes to the winning businesses, offers a grand prize of $20,000 to the first place winner. The initiative is open to Wayne County residents either owning a business less than three years old or in the preliminary stages of starting a local business.
Participants are required to submit an executive summary of their business plan along with financial projections for the initial three years. To further support entrepreneurial efforts, SCORE, a nonprofit organization partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration, will conduct a series of free workshops for participants. These workshops will cover crucial aspects of initiating and managing a successful business. The sessions are scheduled to occur every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Macedon Library for five weeks, commencing on July 26.
The WEDC encourages Wayne County businesses to seize this opportunity to actualize their business dreams with the financial boost from the competitionโs grand prize. Interested businesses must submit their applications by the deadline of Friday, September 29, 2023, at 4 p.m. For more details, potential applicants can visit the WEDC website and explore the Annual Pitch Competition section.
