A hate-filled vandal bizarrely wearing a “Super Mario Bros.” mask defaced a Queens library with swastikas, police said Wednesday.
The vandal defiled the Sunnyside branch of the Queens Public Library on Greenpoint Ave. in Long Island City about 4:15 p.m. on May 5.
Using a white marker, the masked wall scrawler left multiple swastikas and the word “Nazi” on the outer wall as well as a metal table, workers told police.
He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and wore a mask. The mask looks like a cross between the Super Mario Bros. and Groucho Marx, police sources said.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.
Cops on Wednesday released images of the suspect in the hopes someone recognizes him.
This is the second time this week that the NYPD has asked the public for help in solving an antisemitic crime in the city.
On Monday, an unhinged assailant in a bright orange shirt riding a moped threw a box cutter at a 77-year-old Orthodox Jewish man walking along Broadway near Rutledge St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, about 5:30 p.m., cops said.
The victim was hit in the face with the blade but not seriously harmed. Cops released images of the moped rider and were still looking for him Wednesday.
Anyone with information regarding either case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
