The New York Yankees (45-36) claimed a series victory with a 10-4 win over the Oakland Athletics (21-62) on Thursday evening at the Oakland Coliseum.
After the Yankees got off to a slow start offensively, they erupted for eight runs in the sixth, a season-high in one inning, to pull away from the Athletics.
Everyone in the starting lineup had at least a hit except for Jose Trevino, but he still reached base and scored a run. Four players had multi-hit games.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa collected two hits and three RBI, including his fifth home run of the season. He already has more homers this season than last in 357 fewer plate appearances.
Josh Donaldson smacked a go-head 472-foot homer, his eighth and second in the series. It was the first time he gave the Bronx Bombers the lead with a long ball since August 17, 2022.
Harrison Bader recorded his second three-hit game of the season, including a run-scoring single.
Giancarlo Stanton had a two-run double and is hitting .294 (5-for-17) over his last five games.
Gleyber Torres notched two hits, the second of which was a two-run single.
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-3, extending his hitting streak to four games. He has three consecutive multi-hit games and 13 overall.
Clarke Schmidt didn’t have his best stuff but gave the team 5 1/3 innings while allowing three earned runs. The right-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts and 10 of his previous 11 outings.
Ron Marinaccio recorded two outs in relief of Schmidt, extending his scoreless streak to five innings.
Ian Hamilton made his first appearance since May 16 at Toronto and fired a scoreless frame. He extended his scoreless streak to 10 1/3 innings.
Nick Ramirez surrendered a run for just the third time in 15 appearances with New York this season.
