Six-time ex-con charged in Bronx pedestrian strike

Paroled less than two months ago, a six-time ex-con slammed into a 74-year-old pedestrian while driving a stolen car in the Bronx, police said Friday.

The victim is in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.

It wasnโ€™t immediately clear if the suspect, Reynaldo Nazario, 46, was trying to get away from police when he hit the victim.

Nazario, a career car thief, was driving a stolen Honda CRV on Bainbridge Ave. and E. Mosholu Pkwy South at 9:30 a.m. when the vehicle was hit by a Toyota Corolla whose driver, a 66-year-old woman, was heading south on the parkway.

The CRV then struck the pedestrian, police said. Nazario was not hurt. The Toyota driver was treated at St. Barnabas for a minor neck injury.

Nazario has 58 prior arrests, police said. Records show he was paroled in May after serving three years for grand larceny auto.

Before that, he served four other prison terms dating back to 2003 and was either paroled or conditionally released Two of those convictions were for grand larceny auto, The others were for possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle and felony assault, records show.
