Will skies be clear for fireworks? AccuWeather details NYC July 4 forecast.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — This year’s Fourth of July celebrations are likely to be visited by thunderstorms and showers, but skies may clear by the time fireworks burst into colorful displays over New York City, an AccuWeather forecaster told the Advance/SILive.com.

Cells of thunderstorms are forecasted to affect the five boroughs beginning in the afternoon, said Dave Dombek, senior meteorologist for AccuWeather, but a full wash-out is not expected.

Humidity, which has lingered across New York City in recent days, is again going to make a presence on Tuesday. Temperatures may reach the mid-80s before dipping to a low around 70 degrees later at night.
