The Egg, UAlbany’s Dance in Albany series returns this fall

Dance in Albany, a joint presentation between The Egg and the University at Albany, returns for its eighth season this fall with heavy-hitters of the contemporary dance world andย genre-bending interdisciplinary presentations.

The collaborative series began as a way to bringย preeminent choreographers and dance companies from a diverse range of genres to Albany. This seasonโ€™s nine performances will be split between UAlbanyโ€™s uptown campus and The Egg.

Highlights from the 2023-24 series include Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, opening the season; the Bill T. Jones/Artie Zane Company, which combines social commentary with modern dance; hip-hop and street club with Passion Fruit Company; the multidisciplinary, Renaissance and Baroque-infused NoGravity Theatre; the Mark Morris Dance Group; andย tap legend Savion Glover.

The season will also feature a collaboration between the Ellenย Sinopoli Dance Company, The Eggโ€™s resident company, and Capital Trio, UAlbany Performing Arts Centerโ€™s resident music ensemble. The free performance will take place January 27, 2024 at UAlbanyโ€™s Performing Arts Center.

Individual tickets and season subscriptions are available. A full series subscription is $110 with discounts of 25 percent and 10 percent for five- and three-show packages, respectively. Individual tickets range from $10 to $36 depending on the performance. Subscriptions are only available through The Egg in person at the Empire State Plaza or by phone at 518-473-1845. Individual tickets are available through the showโ€™s respective performance venue.

The Bessie award winning company, now in its 55th year, presents a mixed repertory program exploring and celebrating the impact of African-American culture.
