One lucky New Yorker is now many millions richer, after collecting their Mega Millions prize.
It is unclear exactly who that winner is, as a limited liability company called Shadowknight has claimed the $20 million jackpot.
However, the winner opted for a lump sum payment, which came out to $6,859,856, according to an announcement from the New York Lottery.
The winning numbers were 07, 09, 15, 19 and 25, with a Mega Ball of 04 for the April 18 drawing. The ticket was purchased at Church Wine & Liquor located in East Syracuse.
The Mega Millions jackpot currently stands at $400 million; the next drawing will take place on July Fourth.
STATEN ISLAND’S NY LOTTERY WIN STREAK
Although this most recent winner claimed the prize upstate, down in the most southern part of New York, Staten Islanders have been on a win streak.
Most recently, the NY Lottery announced Staten Islander Gerard Hampton won second prize in the May 4 CASH4LIFE New York Lottery game, matching the first five numbers drawn.
That entitled him to $1,000 a week for life, with a minimum payout of $1 million, or the option for the $1 million lump sum.
Hampton received $601,114 after the required withholdings were deducted from the lump sum prize.
He bought the ticket at Reliance Wine & Liquor on Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp.
Back in February a $1 million second-place Powerball prize was sold Liberty News and Gifts inside the Whitehall Terminal for the Staten Island Ferry in lower Manhattan.
And previously in January, as the Powerball was on its climb to a record-breaking prize, KP Deli Corp in Rosebank sold a third-place Powerball prize worth $50,000.
In the last 23 years of ownership, KP Deli owner Sajjab Pasha said he has seen his fair share of winning tickets – but this was the largest.
“It’s very often like $10,000, $20,000, something like that going on. Take Five and the other games, you know,” Pasha said.
