Getting a beer and a hot dog at the ballgame is a tradition nearly as old as baseball itself. But what if you didn’t want the beer?
The Mets kept dry fans in mind between June 29-July 2 at Citi Field when they teamed up with Absence of Proof to bring an array of non-alcoholic “mocktails” to the fan-viewing experience.
“I noticed the lack of nightlife and social options that didn’t center around alcohol,” Absence of Proof Founder and CEO Elizabeth Gascoigne said. “I personally understand the need for these booze-free experiences and I fundamentally felt the otherness of being the only one not drinking in those typical alcohol-centric environments.”
Located within the Piazza Club, fans were able to experience full food and non-alcoholic beverage service that included cocktail, wine, and beer options as the Mets continue searching for ways to create a more inclusive fan experience at Citi Field.
While they ate and drank, lawn games, a live DJ, and a 360° photo booth were available along with visits from Mr. and Mrs. Met to keep the party going.
“Many of our Amazin’ fans are interested in enjoying a fun mocktail environment,” Mets co-owner and president of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, Alex Cohen, said. “We are thrilled to partner with Absence of Proof to bring a new and innovative alcohol-free experience to Citi Field.”
Absence of Proof was founded in 2022 to provide options for “sober-curious” people — a population that has grown more prevalent among Millennial and Gen Z consumers looking for alternative options to alcoholic beverages.
