Timothy Harrison named chair of RUMC Board of Trustees, as 4 new trustees welcomed

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Timothy C. Harrison has been named chair of the Board of Trustees of Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC), while Kenneth E. Corey, Wing L. Law, Joseph Torres, and Robert Urs were all welcomed as new trustees. In that capacity they will help guide the West Brighton hospital, which has served Staten Island and the surrounding metropolitan area for nearly 120 years.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve RUMC’s leadership team, medical staff, and the thousands of other employees and volunteers that comprise the RUMC family,” Harrison said.

“This is an exciting time for all of us,” he added. “Thanks to the vision and commitment of each member of the Board of Trustees, under the extraordinary leadership of our President and CEO, Dan Messina and my predecessors and mentors, Kate Rooney and Ron Purpora, RUMC is nearing completion of $300 million of vital capital improvements, including new emergency and operating room facilities that are not just state-of-the art, but also the envy of the medical community of New York City and New York State.”

Harrison is the principal of TCH Realty & Development Co., LLC. The company’s focus is the clean up and restoration of contaminated and blighted properties in the mid-Atlantic states. Since 1990, the company and affiliated partnerships have completed 30 commercial projects comprising more than 4 million square feet.

Harrison graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, with highest distinction in government. He holds a juris doctorate from the University of Virginia Law School, where he was a Hardy Dillard Fellow, and a master’s degree in tax law from New York University School of Law. He is a member of the bars in New York and Pennsylvania.
