Mets cruise past Diamondbacks to complete three-game sweep

The New York Mets (41-46) cruised past the Arizona Diamondbacks (50-38), 9-0, to complete the three-game sweep and win their fifth straight Thursday night at Chase Field.

Carlos Carrasco turned in his best outing of the season, allowing just three hits over eight shutout innings.

Francisco Lindor recorded his first five-hit game, finishing a double shy of the cycle. Pete Alonso collected two hits and three RBI, including his 26th home run of the season. Francisco Alvarez hit his 16th home run, while Francisco Lindor added his 18th. Daniel Vogelbach and Jeff McNeil also contributed with run-scoring doubles.

The Mets will head to San Diego to begin a three-game series with the Padres Friday at 9:40 p.m.
