Mets take down Padres in extras for sixth straight win

The New York Mets (42-46) continue to rack up some much-needed wins as they picked up their sixth straight victory on Friday night at Petco Park, taking down the San Diego Padres (41-47), 7-5, in 10 innings.

The game was tied at three going into the tenth and New York responded with four runs to take the lead before holding on in the bottom of the frame.

Francisco Lindor smacked his 19th home run of the season and delivered a two-run single. Daniel Vogelbach added a pair of RBI singles while Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez chipped in RBI hits.

Justin Verlander allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings. The bullpen was good except for David Robertson, who served up a two-run homer.

The Mets will try to win another series on Saturday at 10:10 p.m. David Peterson will take the ball.
