Man dead in shooting on Syracuse’s South Side, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man died Saturday night after being shot on Syracuse’s South Side, police said.

Police were called around 9:13 p.m. to the 1300 block of South State Street for the shooting, Sgt. Thomas Blake, a Syracuse police spokesperson, said.

The man was shot at least once, Blake said. Life-saving efforts were made but the man died, he said.

The man, who was not identified Saturday night, was in his 30s, Blake said.

Police blocked off multiple intersections around the scene as they investigated.

Officers shined flashlights behind a convenience store on the corner of South State Street and East Raynor Avenue. At least one orange evidence marker was placed there.
