Cayuga County woman faces 14 felony charges after welfare fraud investigation

Police say a local woman turned herself in to authorities in Cayuga County after a welfare fraud investigation.

Cassandra Peters, 33, is accused of illegally using the countyโ€™s food stamps program.

Peters was charged with 11 counts of offering a false instrument for filing, and one count each of misuse of SNAP, grand larceny, and welfare fraud.

All of the charges are felonies. She was processed without incident and will answer the charges at a later date.
