Five injured, one critically, in NYC apartment fire

Five people were injured — one critically— in a Queens apartment fire on Tuesday night, FDNY officials said.

The blaze erupted inside a first-floor apartment at the three-story apartment building on 86th Drive near 209th St. in Queens Village at about 3:33 p.m.

The flames drew 60 firefighters to the scene. They brought the fire under control by about 4:12 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesperson.

Five people were taken to Queens General Hospital and Nassau Community Medical Center. Four suffered serious injuries, an FDNY official said.

Fire marshals were still working to determine what sparked the blaze on Tuesday night.
