Trial date set, though illness keeps alleged Staten Island leader of Gorilla Stone Mafia from court

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A judge has scheduled a tentative start date in the federal murder case involving John Pena Jr., the reputed Staten Island leader of the Gorilla Stone Mafia gang.

Judge Ann M. Donnelly, along with prosecutors and defense attorney Kenneth Womble, all agreed on a trial date of April 22, 2024, during a hearing at Brooklyn federal court on Tuesday.
