NipperFest keeps it all local with a day of nonstop music

SCHENECTADY — The second-annual NipperFest Music & Arts Festival, set for July 22, is offering 11 hours of nonstop local music.

A full day of entertainment at Schenectady’s Central Park will feature rock duo Jocelyn and Chris Arndt, 16 more local bands and artists, an arts pavilion, food trucks and craft beer. The free festival starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

“This is really celebrating how creative and how incredible our Capital Region’s creative community is,” said festival organizer and Nippertown publisher Jim Gilbert.

Jocelyn and Chris Arndt, the headlining act, have charted on the Billboard Adult Alternative Top 40 with their last five radio singles. The siblings live in Troy, calling themselves “two analog souls hell-bent on inciting a new rock revival.”

 “This year’s lineup highlights the seemingly infinite amount of talent we have right here in our backyard,” Gilbert said. Every scheduled band and artist at NipperFest hails from the Capital Region.

Indie rock fans will have plenty to choose from, including Precious Metals, The Sugar Hold and Jimi W. Folk fans can see Hold on Honeys, Carolyn Shapiro and Angelina Valente, among others.
