Utility crews back at work after Thursday night’s storm

PORT JERVIS- Utility crews worked through the night on Thursday night to restore service to customers in Orange and Sullivan Counties following a string of severe storms that battered the region.

According to Orange & Rockland Utilities (O&R), crews worked through the night to restore service to approximately 7,000 of the 16,000 customers whose power was knocked out.

Trees downed by the destructive storms disabled O&R electric transmission lines that feed four substations that provide service to customers in Deerpark, Westtown, Port Jervis, and Cuddebackville.

As of 7:20 a.m. Friday there are 8,906 customers out of service from the storm.  Here are the largest outages by community remaining from last night’s storm:

Orange County

Port Jervis – 4205
Deerpark – 1799
Minisink – 735
Highland Falls – 61
Warwick – 50
Wawayanda – 24

Sullivan County

Lumberland – 1770
Mamakating – 200
