STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Friends, family, and fellow police officers clapped and cheered as Inspector Robert Brower made bittersweet strides down the steps of the 121 Precinct in Graniteville, saying goodbye to his 37 years of service in the New York City Police Department.
On Friday, July 14, over 100 people gathered at the precinct at noon for a luncheon and Walkout Ceremony to commemorate the leadership and companionship and the overall impact Brower made throughout his career.
โHe will be missed here,โ Lieutenant Rafet Amad, who has worked with Brower for over 15 years, said of the inspector.
Amad isnโt the only one who will be feeling Browerโs absence. Any conversation about him was nothing but a glowing review of his work and character, talking about what a โgood guyโ Brower is, as one officer phrased it.
The ceremony started at about 1:30 P.M. with the Star Spangle Banner and an invocation read by NYPD Chaplain Victor Brown.

Among the ceremonyโs speakers was Deputy Chief Joseph Gulotta, who also spoke highly of Brower. โHe served the city well,โ he said.
To honor his years of service and devotion to New York Cityโs safety, Brower was also given recognition from the offices of Assemblyman Michael Tannousis and Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton.
Before the ceremony formally began, Community Liason Vanesa Limani of Scarcella-Spantonโs office presented Brower with a Certificate of Recognition.
