CCE Sullivan to host workplace wellness event on July 21

LIBERTY- Sullivan County’s Public Health Essentials Team comprised of representatives from Action Toward Independence, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County and Sullivan 180, have planned a “Workplace Wellness” event for local agencies and non-profits.

Under the guidance of facilitator Cheyanna Frost, the Program Manager for Public Workforce Development at Cornell University, the team has previously organized an MLK Day of Service event that had 80 students.  Now, the attention will shift to fellow service providers.  The team decided to provide tools and information that can help change dynamics in the workplace for positive outcomes.

On July 21 at Cornell Cooperative, 64 Ferndale Loomis Road in Liberty, the team is sponsoring The Leadership Empowerment Workshop which will focus on workplace wellness and how to create a healthier work environment.  The workshop begins at 11:30 a.m., and runs through 3:30 p.m.  The day includes modules on “Worksite Culture,” “Worksite Wellness,” and a “Lunch and Learn” forum packed with activities.  The program will also feature a special guest presenter, author Shar McBee, who will provide a presentation on her book “To Lead is To Empower.”

“Our leaders have struggled with staffing issues, fatigue, and increased workload,” noted Deborah Worden, Executive Director of Action Toward Independence.  “The goal is building resiliency in our local leadership and showing the power they possess to make positive changes.  For more information, call Action Toward Independence at 845-794-4228 or Sullivan 180 at 845-295-2680
