Mets lineup and Red Sox lineup for Friday game at Fenway Park

The New York Mets begin a five-game road trip tonight as they face the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The Mets (45-51, 4th in NL East), are .500 since the break with a series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but bounced back by taking two out of three against the Chicago White Sox during their six-game homestand.

Kodai Senga makes his 18th start tonight in a Mets’ uniform. After a solid month of June, he’s been dominant through two starts post All-Star Break. Senga has 21 strikeouts and just two earned runs allowed in 14 innings pitched.

The Red Sox (51-46, 4th in AL East), finished the first half on fire, winning eight of their last nine games with sweeps over the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics.

Boston is sending Kutter Crawford to the mound. The 27-year-old had his best outing of the 2023 season last time out as he pitched six innings, surrendered just one hit and struck out nine enroute to his fourth win in the Red Sox 11-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs on July 16.
