Tyler Thompson wins the 36th Mr. Supermodified special at Oswego Saturday night

In 2018, sixteen-year-old Tyler Thompson won the supermodified rookie-of-the-year award at the Oswego Speedway. The following August, he became the youngest driver to ever win a supermod feature at this lakeside oval.

Two weeks later at age seventeen, this Oswego driver set another record when he became the youngest winner of the Budweiser International Classic 200 in his family-owned super.

Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway, Tyler added another chapter to his racing resume by winning his first Mr. Supermodified title at age twenty-one. The $10,000 triumph in the 75-lap main event was a convincing one.

Starting third, Thompson shot into the lead on the fourteenth lap and he never gave it up. Brandon Bellinger and Alison Sload pressured him at times, but his Hawk-built super, powered by a Doug Holmes big-block Chevrolet engine never skipped a beat and he was in control to the finish.

Track point leader, Dave Shullick Jr., had to settle for fourth, with Jeff Abold, Dan Connors, Michael Barnes, Dave Danzer, Russ Wood and Joe Gosek completing the top ten finishers.

Oswego 350 super point leader Josh Sokolic survived a pair of multi-car tangles at the start of the 350 main event with minor body damage.

He pitted for repairs, returned at the rear of the field and passed leader Jeff Battle with fourteen laps to go in their 30-lap feature for his fourth win this season and a $2,000 check. Cameron Rowe won the 35-lap, small-block super feature for a $1,500 payday.
