WADDINGTON โ€” The Bassmaster St. Lawrence Open concluded on Saturday, bringing anglers and fans alike from far and wide to the North Country.

Waddington has hosted the Bassmaster Series multiple times before, including the Elite series in both 2020 and 2021.

In the end, Jody White won with a three-day total of 71 pounds, 15 ounces to win the St. Croix Bassmaster Open at St. Lawrence River.

White, hailing from Shaftsbury, Vt, won his first Bassmaster professional tournament, winning $49,700 and the $500 Garmin Tournament Rewards bonus, according to Bassmaster.

In winning, White knocked off Bassmaster Elite Series pro Cory Johnston, who previously won in 2021 when the Elite series visited the North Country.

Anglers fished from Waddington down to Clayton, which was near the western boundary of the tournament, Bassmaster said.

The tournament was hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Village of Waddington.

It is part of a series of tournaments and is supported by a Market New York grant from I LOVE NY/New York Stateโ€™s Division of Tourism through the Regional Economic Development Council initiative.
