Mega Millions jackpot nears $1 billion as next drawing approaches

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot is edging closer to a staggering $1 billion, marking the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history.

With no jackpot winners since April, the grand prize has been steadily rising.

Currently, the pot stands at an estimated $910 million, or a $464.2 million cash option. The jackpot follows an April 18 prize win of $20 million in Syracuse, New York, and five other successful Mega Millions jackpots this year, the largest of which was a $1.348 billion reward in January.

Mega Millions enthusiasts will get their next shot at the enormous jackpot in the upcoming drawing scheduled for Friday night, July 28, at 11 p.m. ET.

The last drawn numbers on Tuesday, July 25, were 3, 5, 6, 44 and 61, with the Mega Ball as 25 and the Megaplier as 4X. Despite no jackpot winner, two lucky players in Maryland bagged $1 million each in Match 5, and a Texan won $4 million in Match 5 + Megaplier.
