Maine-Endwell was eliminated from New York State Little League’s 10-12-year-old championship tournament Thursday night, completing pool play with a 1-2 record.
Jackson Buckley mustered M-E’s lone hit in a 13-1 loss to South Shore, a game halted in the fourth inning. South Shore, host for the eight-team event contested on Staten Island, permitted two runs in a 3-0 sweep of the National Pool.
Semifinals are Friday and the title game Saturday.
Maine-Endwell’s district and sectional champions played to a 16-2 summer record, with pitchers Buckley, T.J. Hurba and Kyle Hennessey leading the way. M-E stats show that trio with a combined ERA short of 1.00, Buckley and Hurba batting better than .500 and Hennessey over .400.
Buckley − winner of the tournament’s home run derby − and Hennessey had seven homers apiece in the 18 games.
Coach Dan Hennessey shared that this summer marked the 12U’s first advancement to the state tournament since M-E’s 2016 team completed an unbeaten summer with the Little League World Series Championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Maine-Endwell’s 10U squad absorbed its second loss of the double-elimination state tournament Thursday night at Logan Field in Endicott.
M-E, which dropped its opener only to rebound with two successive wins in losers’ bracket competition, fell by 3-1 to Tri-Village − the Albany County opponent that dealt the “home” team an 11-1 loss in a game suspended Monday and resumed Tuesday morning.
