It has been a rough and embarrassing week for the New York Mets (50-58), and that continued Thursday afternoon in Kansas City as they were swept by the Royals (35-75) with a 9-2 loss.
The Royals, who have the second-worst record in Major League Baseball, outscored the Mets 20-8 over the three-game series.
Carlos Carrascoโs struggles on the mound continued as he gave up six runs on eight hits over six innings. The right-hander, who owns a 6.60 ERA this season, has given up 19 runs in his last three outings.
The offense managed just two runs on five hits after getting shut out Wednesday night. Francisco Lindor was responsible for all of the offense, smacking his 22nd home run of the season in the ninth inning.
