Take one look at DeMarcus Ware and you can’t help but envision a quarterback getting sacked.
And that includes today — nearly seven years after he retired with 138 1/2 career sacks.
The former Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos outside linebacker, who will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend, showed he has another side that most people are likely not aware of: He can sing.
He prominently put his singing prowess on display when he sang the national anthem prior to the Hall of Fame game between the New York Jets-Cleveland Browns in Canton in Thursday. Ware won’t be confused with Ronan Tynan, but he did a solid job to the delight of the crowd at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
What made Ware’s rendition even more heart-warming is he sang the ‘Star-Spangled Banner ‘ in honor of former teammate and star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who died in 2021 from complications from seizures.

Ware did admit that he was more nervous prior to singing the national anthem then playing in the Super Bowl, but the 6-foot-4, 258-pound LB did a superb job and was lauded on social media and in person for his efforts.
Ware, who attended Troy University before graduating in 2005, was four-time, first-team All-Pro Selection. The nine-time Pro Bowler also won a Super Bowl with the Broncos during his second-to-last season in 2015.
He did lead the league in sacks twice and, in addition to his 138.5 sacks, he also recorded 657 tackles and had a pair of fumble recovers for TDs.
