The New York Mets have a future broadcaster on their hands (just don’t let the Baltimore Orioles know).
On Tuesday night, the Mets let their SNY Kidcaster winner take the mic for some game coverage. And just like some of the Mets’ on-field youngsters, he showed potential.
Christopher discussed Chicago Cubs starter Jameson Taillon’s pitch count during the 2-1 Mets lead in the fourth inning. Analyst Ron Darling chimed in by emphasizing the importance of pitch counts. Christopher took it from there.

“Especially when you’re playing the Mets,” he said. “You never know when they’re going to start hitting.”
Darling responded while laughing: “You’d fit in this booth fine.”
Play-by-play broadcaster Gary Cohen quipped: “This is the impact that we have on people, Ronnie.”
Each year, SNY holds a contest for kids ages 8-12 to join the booth to call a half-inning of a game.
With a 51-62 record and a bottom-third offense, it was hard for even Christopher to hold back his criticism of the Mets this season.
Of course, the Orioles don’t abide by those principles as play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown was suspended for stating facts about their lack of success against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road.
